The title says it all! I didn't buy this set from Amazon but at Sam's club instead. It is the same exact set. I bought them at first because of the bright colors. I love colorful stuff and I knew that these would work well in my kitchen. After buying them, I realized that they were very well made and super sharp to boot. I use these on a near daily basis. In fact, I love them so much that I bought my sister and mother-in-law each a set, and they love them too. My sister actually went and bought herself a second set to have, just in case.

These knives are extremely sharp, I'm a professional cook by trade and usually get my knives from a local kitchen supplies wholesaler. But I've never gotten a sharper set of knives straight out of the package as this set. The handles seem to be made of a strong plastic, but the blade to handle balance is really nice and comfortable although the knife feels a little lighter than I'm used to.

If you use these knives at work, be prepared for a lot attention because of the colorful blades. But keep an eye on them around your co workers, the knives might magically walk away..lol!

This finger guard does the job, but requires some getting used to. It slows me down, but also keeps me from cutting my fingers, which is the whole point. But if I'm chopping slow, anyway, I don't usually cut my fingers. In time, I'll probably be able to speed up and use the guard more skillfully. It's a good alternative to the more expensive ones that look no better than this one. It's stainless steel and so won't rust. I don't find that the ring on the back is adjustable. Not without using pliers.

This Chinese vegetable knife holds a razor edge for a long time, and slices/chops/minces beautifully. Its handle is comfortable and non-slip, and it is nicely balanced. The blade is not stainless, and should be wiped dry after each use: it will darken into a dark patina over time from reactions with fruit acids. It comes beveled on both sides, but the owner should sharpen it so that the bevel is eventually only on the side of the hand that holds it (right-hand bevel for a right-handed person): that way perfect, paper-thin, oriental-style vertical cuts can be made easily.

First, I preface my review by stating I am not a professional chef, nor am I a very experienced cook, but in fact I am a novice who enjoys learning to cook. My parents have the entire set of the same Henckels International Classic set and thus this is the only set I had ever really used for most of my short cooking life. I presumed all knives were like this and this is the norm. Well, I recently moved and also recently had been cooking at friends and family's houses who don't have this set of knives...well let me just say, I now know the importance of a good set of knives. The knives cut cleanly and easily, leaving clumsy people like myself less opportunity to injure themselves. So, one of my first purchases in my own place was of course the same set of Henkels International Classic knives that I had "grown up on." (The store near me didn't have a complete set, so I bought this little paring knife essentially to complete the set.)



I should also say that in choosing a set of knives, I called the Henkels company to ask about the difference between this set and the Henkel Pro or 4 star. I was told that the difference is in the weight and that this set is a little lighter than the pro and also that this set is designed in Germany but built in Spain. The staff was very friendly and told me honestly that unless I was a professional chef or professional cook that I really did not need to spend almost double the money on the pro and that the international set would be quite sufficient and perhaps even more appropriate.



I would recommend this set and this company to anyone and everyone especially the novice...because good and safe cooking starts with a good set of knives.



BTW I don't compliment companies easily.

I just purchased this exact set - not from Amazon - but from a small Mennonite store. I've been looking for some good - and I mean GOOD knives, and researching the Net and a number of chef magazines.



As I pulled up to the little Mennonite store - I noticed a sign stating they carried Rada Cutlery. I'd never even heard of it - but I decided to check inside. Although the prices were slightly higher than Amazon offers - I still thought they were low enough that the knives could not be of a high quality. One elderly Mennonite woman told me she owned the middle knife and that she loved it - used it to butcher her chickens. That was a little icky, but I figured if it was good enough for that, I might as well try the set - the price was right.



I am thrilled with the knives. I had to be careful with the parer - it slipped through the potato skin so easily I was taking off more of the potato than I wanted. And the middle-sized knife slipped through bacon I was slicing (in a large chunk) as easily as butter.



Now I'm going to order more Rada knives to supplement my little set.



I can't speak highly enough of these knives.

OK, this tool is something that every man needs. I think you could pick up a 20 pound turkey with it (if flipping turkeys was your thing) and it would barely flex. Easily big enough to flip 2-3 good sized burgers at a time and solid as a rock. Snow outside? Flip it over and let your kids use it as a sled. OK, maybe an exaggeration there, but it's big, beefy, and well built. The handle is comfortable, we'll see how the claims of staying cool and heat resistance go but I have no reason to doubt it. This is a manly man's turner if there ever was one, the girls at your cookouts will be weak in the knees when they see you throwing burgers and steaks with it. Just get one already.

I would not recommend this set for any reason. I ordered this set and the one offered by ron popeil for the same price. The Popeil set had more items and was just a more substantial product. My miracle III knives have rust stains and the small chopper is so thin that it is nicked. Plus, the sets were $39.00 when they were made in the USA. Now they are made in china and sell for the same price. Do not be fooled by the wonderful television ad's. the set from popeil is far superior and the same price.



update: 10 mar 05. these people are impossible. my knives are RUSTING. stainless steel!!!!!!!! i called miracle blade two months ago. they were going to send me a new set. That was after being cut off 3 times. their computers were down. i called them again the other day and was told their computers were down. finally i called and said i wanted to place an order and it was a miracle, the computers suddenly came up. i finally demanded a supervisor, none available. i was told i would have to pay $29.00 for the warranty. i laughed. i had to pay $14.99 for shipping. they are just sleezy. look into sharpkut II. they are great knives. i have had one for twenty years. i thought that miracle blade was the same company. NOT. sharpkut II knives are made in the USA and don't rust. trust me. stay away from miracle blade.

Great knives for the price of popular Henckels brand. Made with German steel and fabricated in China. I was surprised for the low price for this pair until I received them which is thinner than what I expected. I love this design where the blades have hollow spots which create air gaps, this make it easier to slice solid foods like cheese and hams. They do not stick as much as straight smooth steel blades. The 3-rivet hilt feels solid, smooth, and nicely detailed. Sharp.

I picked up this set because I wanted have an extra paring knife (most-used knife in the kitchen) and bring one to work to cut up an apple now and then. These knives are very pretty and different. They are coated in a colorful, slick material that matches a plastic handle and sheath. This makes the food more or less slide off the blade and the knife edge itself is very nicely sharp.



The sheaths mean that you can drop one of these paring knives into a drawer when you are finished with them--and not worry about running into an open blade as you rummage in a drawer. I normally keep ALL my knives in a block on the counter, but when you buy more knives than you have space for in the block, that's an issue.



For picnics, travel, storing in a work drawer, these are superb and they cut very well. The set of three is handy--one for work, one for the picnic basket and one for the utensil drawer at home. Or keep them in various drawers all over your kitchen so there is always a good paring knife at hand. If you are not superstitious about a gift of knives ("cuts" the friendship) then these make a really excellent gift for anyone.

In Chinese kitchens, we don't have a plethora of specialty knives, each with a specific purpose. You don't need to either. There is a myth out there that a good kitchen has to have expensive cookware and knives. In the pioneer days, all that they had was a couple of pieces of cast iron.
