Bought these beauties a couple months ago at CostCo for $25 and I enjoy using them every single time. I especially can't get enough of the paring knife, which has a delightful shape and razor sharp edge. They are light-weight and crazy sharp, but like any knife, only time how they will fair against dulling.



The set comes with every basic knife a budding chef could want and a color coded sheath for each. This set would be great for a college student, an impressive housewarming gift, and perfect for no occasion at all for the friend who's place you cook at every once in a while who doesn't own a decent knife.



I have owned a set of 3 knives made by Zyliss for a couple of years now and by comparison, these are a bit sharper than I remember those being when I first purchased them. I have to say that I prefer the Zyliss over the Komachi handles because they are slightly heavier plastic, feel more ergonomic in my hand, and have some texturing to guard against slippage when wet. The Komachi handles are definitely comfortable and ultra light weight which is good if you are taking them backpacking, but I tend to prefer a knife handle with some heft to it.



All things told, you can't get a better starter set of knives for the money. Go ahead, buy 'em, you won't regret it.
